Parent Information
This page is dedicated to the Parents of our students. The goal is to provide parents useful information about JMHS policies, procedures and important dates. This information should prove useful in keeping parents informed about the education of their children.

Categorical Committees /Council (CEAC, ELAC, SSC)

Marshall High School receives' funding from the federal and state government for enrichment and supplemental materials . One of the mandates of these programs is PARENT INVOLVEMENT. The federal and state government require parents to be involved in the planning and evaluation of the budgets and programs.


The following committees give input regarding funding priorities for the school:
  • School Site Council (SSC)
  • English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)
  • Compensatory Education Advisory Committee (Title I - CEAC)
Get involved at our school by attending the Elections for each of the committees and council. You will also learn more about these programs and the benefits they provide for the students.

*Title One Meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30 PM in the Faculty cafeteria.

*English Learner's Advisory Committee meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month at 6:30 PM in room 155.

*School Site Council Meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month at 5:00 PM in the Library.


Parenting Classes

Title One
  1. Parenting Classes for Parents is a 6-week course designed to encourage parents to familiarize themselves with today's issues that concern their child's educational career.
  2. Classes are provided by Raul Mejia & Associates
  3. Topics covered:
    • Self-esteem and personal growth
    • Appreciating diversity
    • Adolescence a transitional time
    • The educational system
    • Building bridges between parents and teachers
    • Preparing for the future

  4. Parents also learn about mini-cum, school policies and organizations, how to apply for scholarship and financial aide, and college requirements.
  5. We also offered a Parent Forum were a panel of administrators, teachers, and counselors were asked to participate and answer any questions parents might have had.
  6. At the end of the training parents receive a certificate and are asked to share any comments or concern they might have.
Note:
  • Classes are offered to Marshall parents to encourage participation in their child's schooling.
  • Both parents and students are encouraged to participate in the classes.
