- Understand what words really mean and the ideas they suggest.Understand where words come from and their original
intent.
- Ask questions about what has been read and find the answers to those questions.
- Expand ideas on readings about events and issues through writing and discussion.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational numbers and take rational number to whole-number powers.
- Convert fractions to decimals and percents and use these representation in estimations, and applications.
- Solve problems that involve discounts, markups, commissions, and profit and compute simple and compound interest.
