COLLEGE/CAREER U.C. MERCED – Will be in the College Center to meet with seniors who have applied and juniors interested in applying during nutrition (9:30am). Interested students can sign up in the College Center. (Bryan) SCHOLARSHIP – There is a new list of scholarships available in the College Center. Please note that there are scholarships for all grade levels and for students entering community college. (Bryan) SCRIPPS COLLEGE GIRLS ACADEMY – 9th and 10th grade females on C-track are invited to attend an information session on Scripps College’ college prep and mentoring program on Wednesday, March 10th at 9:30am in the College Center. (Bryan) YALE UNIVERSITY – Will be in the College Center on Wednesday, March 17, during lunch (12:30pm). Interested students can sign up in the College Center. (Bryan) COLLEGE PREP PROGRAM FOR GIRLS – C-track females in 9th and 10th grade are invited to apply for the Scripps College Academy, a college prep and leadership program on the campus of Scripps College. If you would like to learn more about the program, a representative will be in the College Center on Wednesday, March 10 at 9:30am. (Bryan) JUNIORS REGISTER FOR THE S.A.T. – The deadline to register for the May S.A.T. is March 25th. Fee waivers are available. Juniors taking AP Exams are strongly advised to take the S.A.T. Subject Tests. B-track juniors are encouraged to register before going off track. (Bryan) JUNIORS – VISIT LOYOLA MARY MOUNT UNIVERSITY AND SANTA MONICA COLLEGE WITH GEAR UP – Visit LMU and SMC with GEAR UP on Wednesday, March 10. Pick up trip slips in the GEAR UP Green Room Office. There are only 60 spaces available! (Reisman) STUDENTS NOONTIME ACTIVITY – Barristers! Come out and play our noontime activity “Excuse me, please move.” Participants will consist of students and teachers. Don’t miss out! It’s on Friday, March 12 on the basketball courts during lunch. (Reynosa) CAHSEE WORKBOOKS FOR 10TH GRADE STUDENTS – See Faculty’s section. MARSHALL VOCAL PRO CONTEST IS BACK!! THURSDAYS MARCH 11TH AND 18TH, COME AND VOTE! – Beginning of lunch in the Oral Arts Room, Marshall’s finest singers will be competing to represent Marshall’s Best Vocalist of March 2010! Come and have a say in who will be the chosen! Vote on Thursday, March 11th and March 18th! All faculty are welcome! (Lee, S.) CAFÉ M IS BACK!! WITH A MOVIE AFTER SCHOOL – Come and support Marshall’s Choir Music Program while enjoying Disney Pixar’s “UP” on a projector screen in Room 603 today, March 8 at 3:15pm. Movie begins at 3:20pm sharp! (96 minutes long). Food and drinks are available. Students and teachers are welcome! (Lee, S.) A-TRACK SENIOR LOGO AND PROM THEME ELECTIONS ON MARCH 8TH – Seniors! Don’t forget to vote for our senior class logo and prom theme! (Reynosa) SCIENCE BOWL – Congratulations to the JMHS Science Bowl Team. This year’s squad reached the final round of 16. It was an exciting tournament capping off an exciting year. Hats off to winners, North Hollywood. Special thanks to Captain Lia Dun and her team! (Clampett) P.A.W.S CLUB – ANIMAL RIGHTS EDUCATION AND OUTREACH – The PAWS Club is restarting after a short hiatus. Come to our first meeting on Wednesday, March 10 at lunch in Room 150 * and help determine what we will do as a club. (Szilagyi) ACE MENTOR FIELD TRIP MARCH 20TH – ACE students, please pick up field trip slip for Carpenter’s Training Center on March 20 in Room 410 (Mr. Nagaishi) or 403 (Mr. Lee) FACULTY CAHSEE DIAGNOSTIC TESTS – Math and English teachers (with Algebra 1, Geometry, English 9 and/or English 10 classes) should have received CAHSEE diagnostic materials on Thursday March 4. Please administer the test as early as possible and return all of the materials, booklets, and pencils to the Title 1 office. If you need additional materials (booklets, answer docs, or pencils), please send a student to Title 1. (Payne) CAHSEE WORKBOOKS FOR 10TH GRADE STUDENTS – A-track 10th grade students should have received a Math and an English workbook from their 10th grade English teacher. Math and English teachers are encouraged to help students prepare for the March 16/17 CAHSEE by assigning problems in class or for homework. Additional workbooks are available in the Title 1 office for 11th and 12th grade students. (Payne) CONTIGOUS SPACE – SLC LOCATION CHOICES – Monday, March 15th during period 6 in the Library. The members of SLCCC have already been invited to this meeting but I’d like to extend an invitation to other faculty members who would like to attend. We will either decide on the locations for the SLCs or we will decide on a process for deciding. If you need coverage, see me in Room 150. (Szilagyi) PROM NOMINATIONS ON MARTH 11TH AND 12TH, 2010 – 2nd period teachers, please remember to have your senior fill out the prom nomination sheets and return them to Bungalow G or Mr. Reynosa’s mailbox. Log in using your email add (do not include @lausd.net).Click on home and you will see your personal info and payroll info (e.g. paystubs, W-2, etc.) Please pick up an emergency card in the Main Office if your contact info has been changed for emergency purposes only. (Main Office) TEACHER VERIFICATION AND CONTACT INFORMATION AND SENIORITY DATE: -- Human Resources has asked the schools to have every teacher verify their contact information and seniority date. We have printed out each of these and need teachers to initial to verify that the information is correct. These verification rosters will be in the Main Office. Please check your information. GEORGE AND GRIFFITH PARK BLVD. – As of Monday, March 1st, all street parking restrictions will be enforced on St. George and Griffith Park Blvd. The parking relaxation period ended February 26, 2010. Starting Monday, the NEW gate on Griffith Park Blvd. will be used to drive and park on campus and we will gain some more parking spaces. See Mr. Juarez if you have any questions.
